7 Tips For Creating A Kids Space

Today I wanna share 7 of my favourite tips when creating a fun kids space:


#1 - PERSONALISE

Print a fun pic of your little darling onto canvas and it will become a great piece of photographic art which I'm sure your little one will be chuffed with:

#2 - DRESS THE WALLS

Wall decals are a great non-permanent way to create patterns on a wall without the expense of wallpaper:

#3 - DISPLAY TOYS

Displaying their toys in fun box units like this doubles up as storage too:

#4 - ADD WHIMSY

A little whimsy adds a great fairytale /story telling element to a space. Sure too set those little imaginations off.

#5 - DISPLAY BOOK COVERS LIKE ART

Let the wonderful illustrations of your kids books act like pieces of art by displaying their books like this:

#6 - MAKE SPACE FOR CREATIVITY

Every kid needs space to create. Blackboard walls are great for this:

#7 - TELL A STORY THRU DISPLAY

Displaying your kids lovelies on shelving like this is a great way to add character to their space and tell a little story too:

Displaying Kids Art at Home

Every home with kids needs that injection of playful, quirky fun! The best way to do this is by displaying your kiddos art at home. Even the most glam homes (like the awesome Kelly Wearstler - pic #1) comes to life with the fun addition of 'kid-like' paint work on the walls.

I'm always looking for creative ways to display my boys art at home. Here are a few of my favourite ideas:

CIY - Recycling Station for Kids

This is such a great CIY (create it yourself) project I found on Handmade Charlotte, for the kiddos:

Kids are always using re-purposed rubbish such as cereal boxes, milk containers, tins, plastic bottles etc for art and craft projects, so this recycling station is just the best idea to house all these items neatly plus its easily accessible for them.

Dolls House

Wowee, how AMAZING are these doll houses. The talented creator of this dollhouse is Nicole Balch of Making it Lovely. The detail is just out of this world. Pop over to her blog to see more here.

Olivia Villet

I had the pleasure of meeting Olivia Villet at the House and Garden show this year where we both exhibited at the Kids Shoppe. She is an extremely talented local illustrator and creates awesome childrens artwork and prints. You can find her at the i heart market or go check out her website here.

I discovered these art prints at Decorex Joburg 2011. Spineless Classics create silk finish prints of the full text of a novel in a single art print. The text is actually legible!
