Barn Love

It's my absolute dream to renovate a barn and make it into our home. I love the idea of the old exterior with a contemporary interior. I think it's the history of the barn that appeals to me. The nostalgia of it. The volume of a barn is awesome, imagine the huge gallery walls I could create . . . .and not to mention those large over scaled doors. . . . . heaven!
This home below was an abandoned stable in Spain, which was renovated by architectural and development firm Abaton. It's just incredible, and it's sustainable too. It has solar panels which provide energy in summer and turbines provide electricity in the winter, from the 2 streams which flow thru the property. All rain water is collected and re-used to water the gardens and the materials used on the home are recyclable. Beautiful and eco!
