I first got to know of Skermunkil at Design Indaba this year, where they had a stand across from ours. And that's when I fell in love. . . . with their stunning creations.
"Skermunkil design studio is both Marietjie Beeslaar and Rory Mountjoy. We are a husband and wife team working from our lovely studio in the old Muizenberg village where we make contemporary jewellery, using materials such as silver, brass, stones, enamels, found objects and many many other interesting things. We also dabble in a bit of porcelain experimentation and have used cast porcelain components extensively in our jewellery range. We love what we do; and we make things that we like; and what we like and make changes all the time. We draw inspiration from the things we see every day and are inspired by international trends in design. We are proudly South African."
