Home Summerveld - Kitchen Renovation

Towards the end of last year I was busy with the renovation of a kitchen, for great clients, in Summerveld. I'm so so happy with the way I transformed this kitchen. Check out the before and afters:

What I did:

# Work with the height of the space and take the cupboards to ceiling instead of stopping them in the middle of no where, like before. A ladder on a rail is practical, to reach these high units and it looks awesome too.

# Created a sitting area around the new island so guests can gather and chat with the cook, or for the kids to do homework around whilst moms cooking. This creates a great social and interactive vibe to the space.

# Dedicate a tea/coffee area away from the cooking area so not to interrupt the cook when making a cuppa.

# Created display areas. "Stuff" on display always makes a kitchen space more homely looking and less sterile. Open shelving and glass units, with lights in, do this trick.

# Elements such as the large blackboard, bucket stool, brightly coloured cushions and custom made engraved "veggies" drawers add interest to this space and make it unique to the owners.

# Created an overall contemporary/country feel that works in harmony with the rest of the home.

If you pop over to our "working on" page, you can have a look at the design work for this kitchen renovation.

Would love to know what you think!
